Itinerary

DAY 1 – LONDON TO SIEM REAP
Overnight flight with Thai Airways to Bangkok and onwards to Siem Reap. Transfer to Tara Angkor hotel for four nights.

DAY 2 – SIEM REAP
On arrival you’ll visit the Angkor National Museum for an insight into the golden era of the Khmer kingdom. After lunch, explore the extraordinary temples of Angkor Wat, experiencing an outstanding sunset at the end of the day. Return to your hotel for dinner.

DAY 3 – SIEM REAP
Travelling by tuk tuk to the Angkor complex, start your day with an elephant trek from the South Gate of Angkor Thom to the ruins of the Preah Pithu temples. Explore the richly decorated Bayon, the Royal Enclosure and Phimeanakas and the ‘Leper King’ and Elephant Terraces.

In the afternoon, visit more breathtaking temples including Ta Prohm and Takeo. After dinner, enjoy a traditional Aspara dance show.

DAY 4 – SIEM REAP
Make an early start to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat and visit temples including Ta Som and Preah Khan. In the afternoon you’ll be taken to two unique art workshops where you can buy Cambodian handicrafts including silk and stone. Enjoy Khmer cuisine at local restaurant Champey.

DAY 5 – SIEM REAP
After some morning temple visits, travel to the Angkor Butterfly Centre. Approx. 25km from Siem Reap, it’s south-east Asia’s largest butterfly exhibit, with hundreds of free-flying native butterflies. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

DAY 6 – SIEAM REAP TO BATTAMBANG
Journey to Battambang, either by boat (approx. 7 hours) or road (approx. 2½ hours) depending on water levels. By boat you’ll cross Tonle Sap Lake and the Sangker River, viewing local life along the shores. By road you’ll stop at the silk farm of Puok and have time to discover the French colonial city in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner and a two-night stay at La Villa hotel.

DAY 7 – BATTAMBANG
This morning is spent exploring Battambang, including a trip on the bamboo train and, after lunch, a 337-step climb to the Prasat Bannon temple for breathtaking views over the surrounding plains.

In the evening experience an outstanding circus show by Ponleu Selpak, a non-profit organisation helping disadvantaged children and teenagers learn circus disciplines.

DAY 8 – BATTAMBANG TO PHNOM PENH
Journey overland to Phnom Penh (approx. 8 hours), visiting Oudong, an ancient capital of Cambodia. After arriving spend a relaxing evening at Sunway, Phnom Penh.

DAY 9 – PHNOM PENH
Today is a city tour of Phnom Penh, visiting the Royal Palace, the Silver Palace, the National Museum and Wat Phnom. After lunch, take a trip to Toul Sleng and the Russian Market. Stay overnight at Sunway, Phnom Penh.

DAY 10 – PHNOM PENH TO KOH KONG
After breakfast, journey to Koh Kong (approx. 4 hours) for a two-night stay at
4 Rivers Floating Eco-lodge. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

DAY 11 – KOH KONG
Today visit the impressive Tatai Waterfall in Koh Kong, where you can swim in emerald waters, indulge in a hydro-massage or kayak on the river. You can either travel to the falls by boat alone or by boat and a trek through the mangroves. After a picnic lunch return to the lodge, visiting rice or fruit plantations, a remote monastery and a children’s school.

DAY 12 – KOH KONG TO SIHANOUKVILLE
Transfer (approx. 3-4 hours) to the beaches of Sihanoukville for three nights or more at Sokha Beach Resort.

DAY 15 – SIHANOUKVILLE TO LONDON
Return to Phnom Penh for your Thai Airways flight via Bangkok to Heathrow.
